Create virtual Hard disc in windows 7

Have you ever wished you had an extra Hard Disk to store files, share, or set aside as an encrypted vault? One of the new features in Windows 7 is the ability to create Virtual Hard Disks and I’ll show you how.

With Windows 7's Virtual Hard Drive, you can create disk images without the need for 3rd party programs like Windows Virtual PC

so lets learn how to create a Virtual hard disk in windows 7

1. Right click on My Computer 
2. Select Manage 
3. Select Disk Management 
4.   Click on Action / Create VHD

5.Browse to the directory you want the disk to reside, choose the size you want it to be, and select dynamic or a fixed. If you want the disk to expand in size as you add files to it, then pick Dynamically expanding. Check Fixed size if you want a specific size and for it to stay that way.

 6. This simple creates the file that will be used for your Virtual Hard Drive.

7. To attach to that file, click on Action / Attach VHD, and Browse to the file you just created.

8.To initialize the disk, right click on the appropriate  Disk # and select Initialize Disk.

9.Confirm the Disk # and select the style you want.

Create a volume

• Now it is time to create a volume by Right-clicking the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.

The New Simple Volume Wizard starts up and it’s just a matter of completing it.

Choose the amount of space you want to use for the volume.

Assign it a drive letter that is not currently being used.

Format the new volume as NTFS, FAT32, or FAT. Check if you want a quick format and file compression.

The wizard is complete, click on Finish.

coooollll.....So you have created a virtual hard disc in Your windows 7.

If you feel the former then it is alright and you can skip this article; you are already aware of the aesthetics and should be congratulated. For the rest of the people who have never really found any time to clean the desktop or are far too busy on Facebook to be bothered about it, we have a solution. Your cluttered desktop can be cleaned in seconds with a simple tool called Fences.

Fences is made by Stardock, which also makes WindowBlinds, Objectdock, Icon Packager, DesktopX etc. It is the lightest and simplest tool among their products, but it is really useful. Working with the tool is also really easy. Select the icons on your desktop while clicking and holding the right mouse button and select “create new Fence from these icons” from the drop-down menu that appears. This will create a new fence on your desktop, which you can name according to your choice. A fence has an advantage that you can drag the set of icons inside it anywhere all at the same time.If you have a lot of icons on the screen and have arranged them into fences, you might still be irritated by the space they take. Either that or if you want to admire your wallpaper for a while, then just double-click anywhere outside the fences on the desktop. This will empty your screen and all the fences along with their icons will disappear. They will come back after another double-click. You can even set some essential icons to be exempted from this property so that even if all the fences disappear, it will be available on the desktop.

We all have heard the terms Virus,Worms,trojans and spyware but only a few of us know the difference between them.We genreally consider everything that is detected by an antivirus as virus but this is not the case.The antivirus not only provides protection against viruses but it also protects us from trojans,worms and spywares.All these can be harmful to your computer hardware and software.Today I will differentiate all these terms from each other .

Ok lets start from the introduction of viruses

Virus:-A virus is a self replicating program that attaches itself to an executable file.When the file is executed the virus automatically gets executed and enters into system memory .Once it enters into system memory it either searches for other files that can be infected or stays in the background and infect the files that are uses the virus infected program.

Worms:Worms are very similar to viruses but differ in way that they donot bind themselves to executable files instead to replicate themselves they uses the network.If you find excessive use of your network bandwidth then you may be infected by a worm.So,a worm donot require a user to execute any file for its execution it can work without user intervention.

Trojan Horse:-A trojan horse is harmful program which may seem harmless to the user before its installation but instead it is programmed or reverse engineered to facilitate unauthorised remote access to the computer.Trojan’s donot replicate themselves.

Spyware:-A spyware is a program that secretly monitor and collects pieces of information.They usually run in stealth mode and cannot be detected easily.Keyloggers is a great example of spyware software.These are not limited to just spying but can also send data to remote computers .

Google launches free SMS service on Gmail in India

Internet Search engine giant Google has rolled out its free SMS chat service through its free email service Gmail and also via paid email service Google Apps to users in India. With the introduction of new sevice, users can send text messages to mobile phones using Gmail Chat and the responses to these will appear as replies in Gmail Chat

The service is available to Indian users along with 51 other countries Asia, Africa and North America. Google had made this feature available to its users some African countries in 2011.

A look at steps involved in sending SMS messages to your contacts' mobile phones using Gmail Chat. To do so from Gmail:

1. Enter your contact's name in the 'Search or invite friends' box in Chat, and select Send SMS from the box of options that appears to the right of your contact's name. Or, if you already have a Chat window open for this contact, just click Options, and select Send SMS.
2. In the dialog box, enter a phone number in the 'Send SMS messages to this number' field. This feature is only launched in selected countries. Click here for the list of supported countries and operators. If you are not located in one of these countries you can still use it, but you won't see the SMS option in Chat until you enable it manually in the Chat settings page.
3.Click Save.
4. A Chat window appears. Just type your message as you would normally. When you hit Enter, the message will be sent to the phone number you entered.

If your contact replies, the text message response will appear as a reply in Chat. These conversations are stored in your Chat history just like regular chats (but keep in mind that you can't go off the record while communicating via SMS).

SMS charges: Google does not charge for using this service. However, mobile providers' standard charges will apply to any SMS messages sent from a mobile device to Google Chat. Please check your mobile provider's price plan for details.

It may be possible that a celebrity is living in your locality.It means a person who upload videos on YouTube.It may be possible that the videos of school,parks,temple of your locality exist on YouTube and you are totally unaware of this.But now you can easily find YouTube videos related to your nearby areas.A new web app 'Videos Near Me' has been introduced,by which you can find the videos.Actually this app takes help of YouTube geo-tagging and shows the videos of location that you choose on Google map(in a range of 2 miles).

How to get 'Videos Near Me

• Here select your location by dragging the red marker.

Create One-Click Shutdown and Reboot

First, create a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing New, and then choosing Shortcut.

The Create Shortcut Wizard appears. In the box asking for the location of the shortcut, type shutdown. 

After you create the shortcut, double-clicking on it will shut down your PC.

You can add any combination of several switches to do extra duty, like this:

shutdown -r -t 01 -c "Rebooting your PC"

Double-clicking on that shortcut will reboot your PC after a one-second delay and display the message "Rebooting your PC." The shutdown command includes a variety of switches you can use to customize it. 

I use this technique to create two shutdown shortcuts on my desktop—one for turning off my PC, and one for rebooting. Here are the ones I use:

shutdown -s -t 03 -c "Bye Bye m8!"

shutdown -r -t 03 -c "Ill be back m8 ;)!"

LIST OF SWITCHES:----

-s

Shuts down the PC.

-l

Logs off the current user.

-t nn

Indicates the duration of delay, in seconds, before performing the action.

-c "messagetext"

Displays a message in the System Shutdown window. A maximum of 127 characters can be used. The message must be enclosed in quotation marks.

-f

Forces any running applications to shut down.

-r

Reboots the PC.
